Event Description
A gusty wind advisory remains in force for the Kiribati Group and Banaba. Low-pressure troughs northwest and southwest of Banaba may bring showers to Banaba and gusty winds across the advisory area. Gentle to moderate northeasterly to easterly winds of 7 to 18 knots, fresh at times, are expected together with moderate seas. These conditions may create choppy coastal and nearshore waters and could affect small boats, fishing activity and marine operations.
Instructions
Gusty winds and moderate seas may make small boats unstable, disrupt sea travel and create hazardous conditions along exposed coastal areas. Fishers, boat operators, inter-island travellers and coastal communities should delay unnecessary travel by sea, secure boats and loose equipment, stay away from hazardous shoreline areas if conditions worsen, remain alert for sudden stronger winds during showers and closely monitor updates from the Kiribati Meteorological Service.
